It's sort of like a tradition.....
In Jewish Deli's when served a Corned Beef Sandwich you "Always" get the Dill Pickle!!

As a matter of fact, in most Jewish Deli's you'll find a bowl of Dill Pickles on the table to nosh on while waiting for your order...

the pickle doens't really do anything it just adds to the enjoyment of the sandwich

I wouldn't put a pickle with it though. A small chocolate pudding would be better.

I do not know if there is any significance. I think it is just traditional for deli food.

it adds color to a boring plate presentation. If it doesnt make past your eyes it will never make it to your mouth.
