Try larger churches in your area, or the Salvation Army or United Way also help with temporary rental assistance.
I hope this helps and you are in your own place soon. Prayers sent your way!
Note: I would NOT suggest getting a loan from one of those cash advance places. You will end up in debt with them for a very, very long time and you don't need that right now just starting out in your new place. Don't risk taking out a loan. Those places are like loan sharks. Just watching out for 'ya.

Do NOT use a Paycheck Advance company--you'll end up paying through the nose via interest and fees. Try a Temp Agency--they often hire people for day work, etc. What about borrowing the $ from friends/family? That work?
However, there is one thing that sticks out in your question---Why does your landlord need the rent & deposit a week sooner? Do you have a rental agreement? If so, and he needs it sooner, tell him too bad. Tell him that you are holding up to your end of the deal, and he has to, too. I would consult with Legal Aid--or call/email your State representative. A lot of time they will help you with these sort of issues. Some states/reigons also have specific non-governmental groups that deal with landlord/tennant issues.
Good luck!

Since you don't have time to sell something on ebay., etc., even a pawn shop is a better bet than those cash advance places -- biggest ripoffs in the WORLD! I should think your landlord would take a check dated a week ahead as long as he knows you're working, etc.; otherwise he sounds like a ripoff landlord and maybe you should keep looking and stay in the shelter a little longer. Probably not the answer you wanted to hear, but it sounds like things are improving in your life. Hang in there!

I wish you had given more information as to what your resources and talents are. Do you have a car or can you sing?
Many years ago I hussled up money quick by:
Offering a newspaper carrier a morning off by doing their route.
Knocking on doors looking for any odd job like cleaning an oven or raking leaves.
Street Performances of any talent with a can out.
One of my best moneymakers was printing up gift certificates for emergency services for baby sitting on an hours notice in the evening. I sold them for $25.00 to cover up to five hours sitting over the next year. It was quick cash and I did follow up with good service on the few that were cashed in.
Churches are a good source, but it's important to attend the service before you start asking for help.

This sounds off the wall but look for places that will pay you to donate plasma. You can make some very quick cash doing it and as long as you meet their requirements [most places aren't that picky] you can do it in about an hour, two at the very most. Another thing to look into for the long term is selling you eggs. If you fit their criteria, you can sell them for $600.00 to $800.00 a piece and if you are willing to take some hormones to make you produce more than one at a time, you are looking at some very nice money.

Put something on craigslist. If you have a couple things on there of some value, you might be able to cover your costs.
You might also ask your employer for an advance on your salary.
Or... perhaps if you give the landlord a check dated for a week later, he or she might hold it.
Worst case... get ten friends to give you $20.

Do you have a lease already??
If you do, he cannot break the terms of the lease and you shouldnt pay and he cant penalize you for that.
If you dont have a lease (than you messed up), explain it too him.
Offer yardwork services on Craigslist.com. It is the fall and people need raking
