Why is it America's job to get rid of dictators like Saddam Hussein? If we are so he[[ bent on getting rid of human oppression, why aren't we invading China? Or Darfur? Or the hundred other places where humans are forced to live in terrible conditions and if they so much as speak up questioning the government, they are kidnapped, tortured, and killed?
It's a little late to Monday Morning Quarterback this war. People should have spoken up louder before it started. As of now, we've made a mess of the country, stirred up all kinds of new hatred for Americans, and made this one of the scariest times in history. We have to finish what we started, but put more effort towards cleaning up our mess and actually making Iraq a better place - by *their* standards, not GWB's Christian hunting "go get em" cowboy diplomacy standards.

The only thing our war in Iraq has to do with terror is that a lot of Iraqi men, women, and children are now being terrorized on a daily basis who never had that problem under Saddam. We went in with supposedly good intentions but ****** up big time when we didn't provide any security after the battle ended.

Saddam Hussein was a dictator, but that's no reason for the war in Iraq. 25 years ago, he was America's favourite dictator in the Middle East. The Americans were supplying him with weapons, money, whatever he wanted, just as long as he keeps fighting Iran. The problem with US foreign policy is it's inconsistency, one day a brutal dictator is your favourite buddy, the next he's evil. If you're going to call yourselves righteous, like the Americans do, you have to treat everyone on an even playing field, not be buddies with dictators in Uzbekistan, or Turkmenistan, or Iraq for that matter, and condemn other dictators. That's called being two-faced, and that's why people don't like the US. As far as no war, the alternative is to stop sticking your noses in other peoples affairs. Get out of the Middle East, let them sort it out for themselves. As long as you are on one side (Israels), and support whatever they do, you will be seen as an aggressor. Instead of spending billions of dollars killing people in the Middle East, and thereby creating even more terrorists, spend that money and help poor countries around the world get on their feet economically - instead of exploiting them. I can assure you if you truly help the poor around the world, if you act humbly, then people will respect you, and you won't have to worry about any terrorists - guaranteed. But I guess to be humble is un-American.

It sounds like you need to do more reading. Our presence is not providing stability. Saddam Hussein didn't do a lot of great things--I despise the man--but one thing he did very well was provide stability.
The money we have wasted on this war could be much better spent in ways to strengthen this county. For example, we could be taking the lead in developing renewable energy sources, for which their is an almost limitless, worldwide demand.

Yes, it has everything to do with war on terror. However, only far left liberal whackos decided to answer you and that gave your question a decidedly anti American slant. I'm just all talked out on the subject; can't even muster the energy to debate these people anymore; it seems like they were all born tripping on acid. But you know what? All they can do is talk, talk, talk. They haven't got the wherewithal to do anything to further their bent, so I'm just going to sit back and see what happens. Maybe they'll all just decide to go there and be human shields; one can only hope.

well, im sure that the Billions of dollars, that is BILLIONS, could be spent here in the united states, if we spent that much money and used the army here we could solve a lot of problems, and wouldnt need the oil over there, so we wouldnt have to go to war, and wouldnt have to worry about terrorists cause we could just bomb the crap out of those countries who give us trouble and dont clean their own house.

The US should mind its own business and stop poking its nose into other country's affairs. That's what the UN is for.
