how would i install them the right way

can i just tap it back into place it is a top mounted one hard to get to though i guess it is a heater plug next to the thermastat housing ?

pry the old one out and replace it...put a little silicone on it to make it go in easier plus this helps seal around the outside of the freeze plug.

All good answers but non is right.
First knock out the old one. Take it to the autoparts store and buy the rubber plug.
This plug is easy to install and all it takes is a wrench.
Here is how it works.
put it into the freeze plug hole and just tigthen the nut. Thats it
It will seal. I have uses these for years and have never had to replace it once it was installed

What engine? stick a screwdriver into the rusted part and pry up then replace with a little gasket sealer.

Remove the old freezeplug and install a new one.

I've always had my best luck with Barsleaks. Other than replacing it totaly and that can be a pain
