The wheel was invented in 5000 BC by the ancient Mesopotamians and we still use it (ever thought of that?). Cars are a more efficient model of "Horse-less carriges". Many of the Military's best weapons (F-15, A -10,etc.) were built in the 1980 and 1970's. Hello? Ever thought of these things? (please answer the first question[also explain your opinion, please!])

Actually, with the possible exceptions of medical, communications, environmental sciences, and the energy alternatives, any and all forms of "entrenchment" in our technological progressions are "blessings" of sorts as we are in a constant state of "catch-up." As well, there is always a "lag time" between "invention" and economic viabilities. Hydrogen powered vehicles is a case in point. Entrenchments in the other sectors of our eco-cultural systems are a different matter... we are still in the "ice-age" sociologically, politically, & ideologically; as the saying goes, as a species, we are "smart (too smart?)" but NOT wise." Our educational systems are abysmal, and move like dinosaurs, our 'economic' sensibilities are not keeping up with the changes in the human condition, and we treat our environment with all the care of a child with matches set loose to "experiment" in a field of bone-dry grasses! No, if our social stability is remain intact, our adopted changes must now become ever-the more "measured" - at least until our insight & and collective intellect mature to the proper levels... but then this should become obvious with even a modicum of reflection... hopefully people no longer think with the "no holds barred," laissez faire mentalitiy of yesterday, but we shall see (time WILL tell). As "Uncle Albert" said, "The problems that exist in the world today cannot be solved by the level of thinking that created them."
