It depends on what they do. Is it going to be a fluid and filter change or an actual flush? Watch the operator performing the service, be certain that the job is done. It is easy to scam you out for $75 or more. I saw a investigative report out of Los Angeles showing how "Jiffy Lube" was charging people for doing a trans flush but never doing the job.

What is the climate where you are? Very hot driving conditions are bad for the ATF.

Do you drive in dusty conditions? That will harm your fluid, too.

Do you tow a trailer? Bad for the fluid.

If you don't have these conditions...about 30000 miles between changes.
If you do have these conditions...about 15000 miles between changes.

Your best source for information is always...the owner's manual for the car. If you don't have one...check eBay. usually pretty cheap.

Good luck.

Transmission flush is the biggest hose job shops are pushing these days. They want to charge you around $100 for 5 minutes of work. They won't even replace your filter either. They just hook up a siphon to your dipstick and suck out the old tranny fluid if you watch them. They will just say they did it if you don't watch them. Then they will loosen a bolt or two somewhere so you'll be back in for more service later.

Get a siphon pump and do this yourself through the dipstick, or drain the pan from underneath. Replace the filter and gasket, and refill. Cost is around $20 - $30 including the filter. You only need to do this maybe once every 40,000 to 50,000 miles.

I've been driving for nearly 50 years and I've never heard of a "flush" before. I've heard of a transmission tune-up in which they replace the filter, fluid and gasket and otherwise check for wear and debrie in the housing.

A "flush" literally means that they run new fluid THROUGH the transmission and don't do anything else.

Yeah, right. If you let them do that, you can expect to replace your entire transmission in about 20,000 miles at about $1200.

DO NOT GET A TRANSMISION FLUSH!!! What you need to do is get the filter replaced and replace the amount of fluid that comes out when the pan is taken off to get at the filter. most shops charge 80.00 to 100.00 for this service. I run a fleet of 6 vans and the only ones i've had trouble with transmisions on are the one's that have had tranny flushes done. A fluid & filter change should be done every 20,000-40,000 miles depending on how severe your driving conditions IE: towing or temperature extremes means it should be done more often.

There are many cars in the road that have not even had a single transmission flush in the life of the car and they are fine! It all depends how much you love your car, you sound like a car lover like me. I would recomend to get it done once a year by any lube places they change your oil and the oil filter they are in the range of $35 to $65, this should keep your tranny running for longer than the engine will. Good Luck!
