Ashes don't work in a CD player! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That was lame. lol.
My real answer: Hmmm, that is weird if it's only 2 years old, but it just might not be compatible with burnt CDs. Try seeing if there is a setting on your burning program that says "audio cd" and "mp3 cd" and make sure audio cd is checked. Otherwise... I don't know.

Some stereos don't like to play certain CD-Rs and CD-RWs. Try a different brand, or the other type of CD.

what format are you burning in? some cd players that play cd-r's will not play mp3's on a cd-r. only if you burn the cd as a full quality format like aac, wav, or aiff. mp3 is still relatively new. i think only in the last year has mp3 compatibility become standard issue on all cd players.

Are you burning regular audio files to the CD(making a duplicate) or burning mp3 files to the cd. If you are burning mp3 files the player must be able to read mp3 files regardless of the year it is made.
