I have a Fender Showmaster, and I have a problem...one of the pickup wires (I think it is the positive) detached from the actual jack. All I hear when I plug in is static. At this point what do I need to do to fix this, do I need to replace anything and is this a job best left to a professional?

I have tried to do this before with a cheaper guitar that I own, but it was not a success.

Take it to a pro, they'll solder it back together.

take it to somebody who knows what there doing. If you can see the detached wire and you know thats the problem then try reconnecting it. But if your guessing then take it to a pro. I guess you have cleaned your jack real good with a brush? If not try that, they do make a brush for that.

Take a trip to your local library - there are a number of books out there that can show you step-by-step how to do simple repairs & even more complicated stuff
