It depends in which way the plates are moving.

Subduction...etc...

depending on the fault lines, they will move slowly, either creating land, suck land down, cause the plates to go under each other, earth quakesm tsunamis, etc....

~Well, then, you might try punching "tectonic plates" into a search engine and choosing from the myriad of results that will produce, read a few, then use a little common sense, logic and deductive reasoning to formulate your answer. Might I suggest you write your answer up in on the slopes of Kilauea, the shores of Indonesia or somewhere along the San Andreas or Hayward fault, or some like spot along the ring of fire.

well they're underground, and they move. and one that is under california is moving towards the pacific, so one day, california will break apart from the U.S. yeah....
