Get a bottle. Clean it thoroughly. Carefully drop some small pebbles into the bottom, then a few grains of sand, then pour some dirt in so it covers the pebbles and sand. This is your base. Use a stick to make the dirt flat...Now, you could take a seed and start from that, or just find a small seedling of some plant, like a flower plant, and drop it into the bottle, then use the stick to gently get the plant's roots into the middle and a hole. This will take some patience and care. Once everything is fixed, spray some water (tap, not puirified) into the top and cover the top of the bottle. Place away from direct sunlight, in a bright but not hot location. After a few days or weeks, the plant will develop roots, and its own little "world" of "rain". Do not overwater. Remember the water will recycle. And never place in the direct sunlight because the bottle will get too hot and burn the plant. Maybe get a thermometer and place inside just so you don't over heat the plant. Watch it grow. You could, as time goes on, drop other little plants or seeds in, depending on how large the botte is--I prefer the 5-gallon water bottles. Also drop in dead leaves, which supply nutrients. Ferns are great.
