I am a Venezuelan Citizen and I currently reside in the United States. I feel that Hugo Chavez is getting more dangerous by the minute. His oppression of the venezuelan poor people (this includes most of my family), alliance with terrorist and communist countries are making him into a future threat. I understand that the United States in currently at war in iraq, but people cant turn a blind eye as to what is happening in Venezuela. This is not the same country that it was 8 years ago. Its building its army with weapons and it's close to possesing Nuclear Weapons. I can understand if you say that I am bias to this question, but nonetheless, I am a venezuelan citizen and can speak from experience. Please, if you dont mind, let me know what you feel about Hugo Chavez.

Thank you

JC

I believe your comments and concerns are right on the mark. He is an egomaniac working to become a dictator. It is likely that before the people truly understand, he will have consolidated the power he needs to protect himself. What makes him different from other self proclaimed saviors of the people is the money derived from crude oil production. Anyone who promotes the American hater, Norm Chomsky, should be suspect to be the dimmest light in the room.

it was my undestanding that chavez was well liked by the "common people". while i have no expertise whatsoever in venezuelan matters, i do recall seeing a video which discussed a coup not too long ago where chavez was ousted but returned quickly because of the campesinos taking to the streets. he was ousted by the usual "ruling class" types as i recall. so what's the truth of the matter. is he for "the people" or is he just another a**hole trying for more money and power? as a fellow leo dragon, i was hoping he was a caring, generous, heart centered person, and not just the usual greedy, psychopath type, like we here have to deal with. ;-) where have all the philosopher-kings gone? i'm assuming you are being sincere in your question, and are not merely a paid political hack hired by karl rove and his SS buddies to spread lies on this site. a tactic certainly not beneath that nazi scum.

I agree... Hugo Chavez is a terrible man.... but I really think that people have to stop looking at america as the world police!!!! I am sorry but America has a lot to figure out on their own... they can't possibly be fixing the rest of the world at the same time. I know that this sounds not sympthatic at all... that's not what I am going for... but I think that the UN should do more ... the US... still needs to figure things out on its homesoil

You are right to be concerned. It might seem like that loud-mouthed thug is being ignored by Americans, but he is not. If it keeps up and Venezualans like you fail to do something about him, his time is going to come, which is going to be a very unhappy chapter in your country's history. Either you people will do something about him or someone else will.

I think he's a great guy who has done a great del for the Venezuelan people, but has had much propaganda about him in the US, because the US wants Venezuela's oil.

Loved his oil; Hated him.
He reminds me of a professional athlete who is in their prime, cocky and full of himself. And then the reality of age sets in and they just fade away. Hopefully that's what will happen to him.

I agree with you. But it will take bigger minds than mine to solve the problem of Chavez.
He reminds me of the bullies you will find in any community.
