They'll pop it back in. Orthopedics is very qualified to handle this. I'm sure he'll be fine, you shouldn't worry too much.

I see it has been five (5) days since this occurred. I`m sure the procedure went calmly and very expeditiously. After arrival at the hospital other than the wait in the ER, when he was eventually seen by the triage nurse he was taken to X-ray where a picture of the shoulder was taken to confirm the injury, hopefully it was only a strain and heal in a couple of weeks. If it was a dislocation it was rather quickly reset by a skilled ortho doctor. Prabably an ultram pain reliever or tylenol 3 was prescribed.
Dislocations have a memory it seems , as he continues to play sports he will have to guard that shoulder now because it could be more suseptabal todislocations again and again as time goes on. I hope time proves me wrong. Please let me know how it worked out. I hope he is all right by now.

Sounds like he dislocated his shoulder. The doctor will pop the bone back into the socket by pulling it out and allowing it to slide back into its normal position. Yes it is painful and he will most likely be in a sling for a couple of weeks... be gentle, it will be sore for a while.

Depending on the injury ( if there is no breaks) they will probably medicate him and pop it back in. I am sure he is in good hands so do not worry too much.

first of all take a deep breath, no one have died from a popped out shoulder.
the doctors will take a x-ray to determine the damage and than discuss, what steps are to be taken to repair his shoulder.
you have to be strong for him, and support him, say positive things to him
good luck
