I am a sikh, but although personally i have not had problems, sikhs and hindus alike have been frowned upon and treated differently because of all of this. Can we highlight to each other what the differences are between them in appearance and mentality. I am in no way saying that you should aim your slander at those you know are muslims and not those who aren't because its a minority few muslims who have messed it up for everyone and you shouldn't be verbally or physically abusing anyone anyways.

I can recognise Sikh people by their surnames (ie, Kumar, Singh) and the wearing of the silver bangle on the wrist.
Some Sikhs wear Turbans.

Sikhs believe in many Gods and that Guru Nanak will return to save the world and sort its problems out.

Oh, and you give cracking wedding parties!!!!

I hope this answers your question?
There are educated people out there who recognise the difference. Its the ignorant who dont have a clue.... they just see hatred because of the colour of someones skin. I feel sorry that you have had some of the responses you have.

Im Church of England, by the way.... and have friends and colleagues from EVERY race and religious backgrounds.

There are 2 things here: Religion and racial background.

They do not overlap neatly.

I think you are in a way hiding what you are thinking even to yourself. When you look for differences in 'mentality'. Appearance sure, some religions require their people to wear something (like if you are really Sikh you should know the signs of Sikhism). But mentality?

I think you are showing the same characteristics, although to a lesser degree, than those who look upon everyone with 'brown skin' as a potential terrorist. You are associating a combination of religion and racial background (follower of Islam + Asian Origin) with a certain 'mentality', although you say that we 'shouldn't be verbally or physically abusing anyone'...

Now that my little rant is over and the steam has been released...

The difference is simply their religion. That's all. Muslims follow Islam, non-Muslims do not. Simple.

the only thank you to tell if someone is a genuine Muslim is to look at his heart and easily Allah has that potential. some human beings play "God" and attempt to confirm who's Muslim and who isn't in keeping with their very own be attentive to-how of Islam There are Muslim women folk who do no longer positioned on the Hijab yet once you spot one wearing a Hijab you be attentive to that she is Muslim. Jewish and Hindu adult males and human beings of all religions positioned on beards (and there are Muslims of all ethnicity) so having a beard isn't a distinguishing function of a Muslim guy. The the respond is, there are not any obvious observable distinction between a Muslim and a non Muslim and one can not continuously tell if someone is Muslim or no longer by watching them In Pakistan and India and another international locations the place human beings pray on perplexing surfaces, you will see the mark of them bowing down on their foreheads, and that's in specific situations a sturdy indication that he's Muslim, although there are Muslims who pray all 5 on an usual basis prayers all their lives and because they pray on a delicate mats or carpets that mark would not look.

Muslims worship Alla and their profit Mohamed non Muslims don't. People who see others of the same Race automatically brand them as Muslim,, however there are Asians who are Hindu, Buddhist Muslim and even Christian as well as many other Religions.. Not all Arabs and Persians are Muslim either but racism is so rampant and fear of terror is so great that Americans look at anyone with a dark complexion as a possible terrorist .

Christianity in Louisiana is closely associated with Vodoo; although Vodoo has nothing to do with the former; and similarly, Islam is associated with the local culture, folklore etc. that's all.
So the differences are linked to the geographical location.
One example is the fact that in East Africa girls get their clitoris cut off, this has nothing to do with Islam, although it is practiced by Muslims in that region.

What a shame terrorists aren't born with a big T on their forheads then perhaps we could all stop blaming muslims. The majority of whom are just ordinary people trying to earn a living and do their best for their kids like everyone else!!

You are all equally valuable human beings who have been divided by Neo Conservative politics (like everyone else). Too bad people don't understand the Muslim religion-- take time and write to newspapers and politicians and educate people when you can! Thank you.

A muslim is someone, of whatever racial descent, whose religious faith is Islam. A non muslim, of whatever racial descent, does not believe in Islamic teachings. You can't tell someone's faith or religion from appearance. I don't think we need to highlight our differences, but rather, accept our differences.
