I have a tiny creek near my house and was wondering if that would be a good place to fish...the creek is about 3-6 ft deep

we live near two small lakes too

If the creek is moving really quickly, you may not find many cats in it. They like stiller water. Even so, you can usually find them with some sort of a stink bait - liver, rotten meat, smelly cheese, etc. Put a weight on it a few inches up from the hook so the bait floats just off the bottom. Throw the line out there and let it sit for a while... you'll feel the tap tap. Hook em in!

Use a hook and line on your fishing pole too. Also you must bait the hook with something really gross like bloody livers or night crawlers. Then you have to hold your mouth right before the fish will bite. I don't know what that has to do with it but it's what I've always been told. You might want to chew tobacco and spit on your bait also.
