The fuses are not blown & the bulbs are good. Obviously an electrical problem. But anyone have a clue? 1984 Mercedes 190E (W201)

Ahh! the 190EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. It is the flasher box. guaranteed. It is located under the hood in the E-box right inner fender. Pull off the lid it is round and black if original, blue if it has been replaced. Love and hate them!

pretty easy to find actually. if your hazards (4 ways) work fine then it is definitely either a break or a short in the loom from the indicator switch to the bulbs.

if your 4 ways do't work then it's 99% likely to be the flasher can which again should be easy to find. usually just under the dash.

i wouldn't go to a merc garage for this.

That is going to be a nightmare. The wiring must meet up somewhere and may have been pinched or shorted. Buy a hanes manual and see if you can trace the route of the wires and see if you can see any obvious damage. Good Luck : (

Check the flasher unit... Does the hazard lights switch work? If not, it's probably the flasher unit... The wiring within the steering column may need to be checked... You should be able to do the flasher unit yourself... The wiring thing is a dealership thing...

Your turn signals probably don't work because the fuse for them has went out or burnt up or the lights went out.

Do you hear the 'click-click' inside the car? If not, it's your flasher unit (relays). Easy to change.... but a biatch to find. It's either under the dash somewhere or in 'box' in the engine compartment.

No but finding the problem in the Mercedes isn't going to be cheap.

Flasher unit. If you buy it at a parts store the hardest thing might be getting to it!

It sounds like a short in the wiring which means it could be any where. Sorry.

My husband says it's your plug in flasher unit which you should be able to buy it in any car parts store and they aren't expensive
