There is a new birth control pill called Seasonale which cuts you down to 4 periods a year. Also, a lot of women on the Depo-Provera shot stop having their periods completely.

If you are on the Pill, there are 7 "placebos" that make you have your period. If you don't take those pills, you can "stop" your period. You should still get like 4 a year. Thats pretty good, compared to 12. You shouldn't "cut it off" completely. You need to be careful, especially if you want kids eventually.

Depo-provera shots will get rid of it for a lot of people. And as someone already said, the birth control pill called Seasonale can allow you to only have 4 periods a year. Other than that, there is always menopause. But then you have to trade periods for hot flashes, so it's still no fun.

There are a few pills you can take to shorten your period to only a few times a year. You can take a pill like Seasonale which makes you only have 4 periods a year. I don't know how old you are but you maybe need to be a little older before you consider taking birth control pills to shorten the amount of periods you have a year.

Your period can go away if you do a lot of exercise, also if you are on certain types of birth control it can shorting your period and there are also types that give you your period only once every three months. You also can stop your period if you are pregnant, but if you are not planning on getting pregnant than make sure you are using appropriate forms of birth control.

Try getting the Depro-Vera shot. I've used it for two years and haven't had a period in that time.

IF YOU ARE ON THE PILL, DON'T TAKE THE ONES FOR THE WEEK OF YOUR CYCLE, START A NEW PACK. YOUR PERIOD WILL NOT START. IF YOU ARE HAVING BAD CYCLES(HEAVY BLOOD FLOW) TELL YOUR DOCTOR. YOU COULD PROBABLY HAVE A FEW CYSTS. THAT WILL MAKE YOU HATE IT!
