WAY OUT WEST" this film slays me every time I watch it. its
another classic comedy from Hal Roach starring the legendary Laurel & Hardy in one of their best features. This time the boys head west to deliver the deed to a gold mine to the daughter of a miner recently deceased. Of course the boys deliver the deed to the wrong person and have to right their wrong.

Many classic Laurel & Hardy moments are included in this film. I am always amused at how Hardy always looked at the audience in frustration over the antics of Laurel. Along with the usual pratfalls, we have the ever present deep hole in the middle of a stream that only Hardy seems to disappear into. Then we have Stan using his thumb as a lighter dumb founding Ollie several times until Ollie's own thumb catches fire. The part where the boys try to break into the saloon at night to retrieve the stolen deed is hilarious. They also perform a delightful soft shoe routine and sing "Trail of the Lonesome Pine" along with the Avalon Boys featuring a very thin Chill Wills.

The rest of the cast includes long time L & H foil James Finlayson as Mickey Finn the villain of the piece and Sharon Lynn as his scheming wife. Another long time L & H foil, Vivian Oakland has a bit in the stagecoach sequence and Stanley Fields appears as the sheriff.

"Way Out West" like all of Laurel & Hardy's films is classic comedy from a bygone era, the like of which we shall never see again.

Straw Dogs.

The amount of social commentary contained in this film is utterly staggering. What could be misinterpreted as mindless violence is actually an intricate study of the human psyche. It took a bit of thinking about after it ended, but once I got it, it blew my mind.

Granted I was a bit drunk when it blew my mind, but I'm sober now and I still think it's the best film I've ever seen.

hahaha damn you know how to make a girl feel old, lost boys is not an "old" film.....i would say my favorite film is Bringing up Baby, its black & white and its Katherine Hepburn & Cary Grant at their comedic best. Also the Bad Seed was really controversely in its day and its a good film, patricia mccormick is disturbing.

My favourite old films are,' Gone With The Wind', because I think Clark Gable was wonderful....'An Affair to remember', such a beautiful love story and it is the reason why I also love Sleepless In Seattle...All the Doris Day films, because I wish life was like it is in her films....All the Fred Astaire films, because I love to dance...'The trouble with Angels', because it reminds me of when I was in school......and there are many more

An affair to remember. Because Cary Grant is so cute and sweet they dont make men like him anymore. The chemistry between him and Debra Karr was awsome . When he comes into the room and she is sitting there under the blanket and he realizes that she cant walk it is a real tear jerkier. It still get's me every time.

THINGS TO DO IN DENVER WHEN YOU'RE DEAD, a gangster movie that isn't just a gangster movie but a tale where the storyteller explains the "language" and the plot without interferring with it. Exemplary acting from all.
