most of the answerers have offered good advice based upon my experience. often in these situations a cycle begins where you even become anxious about having another "attack". perfectly understandable, but, of course, not helpful. once you:1. know you won't die, and, 2. realize that if you have an incident it always passes, and while it's uncomfortable it is only temporary, things begin calming down a bit. to this you should add the benefits of regular exercise and other stress reduction practices such as meditation, yoga, etc. being stressed out these days is at "epidemic" levels. fear, uncertainty, and general worry about one's future and, even , survival are no strangers to much of the world's population given the times we are experiencing. so, do the stress reduction practices, and check out http://www.sahajayoga.com the "energy" from the site will help you to meditate and to calm down, generally. also, it might be wise to see an acupuncturist. she could help with balancing out your energy field to reverse what's been done to it by the stress, and suggest some safe homeopathic and/or herbal formulas that can help. if possible i would try this approach BEFORE i would ever take western "remedies". those ALWAYS have side effects, a number of which can be quite unpleasant. best of luck! ;-)

yes..this started happening to me when I was about 20. I never believed anxiety existed, so it never crossed my mind that's what it could be. I went to so many doctors and was diagnosed with so many random diseases (none of which I had). I had chest pain and shortness of breath...the dull chest pain just wouldn't go away. I finally realized it was anxiety and is stress related. I laugh at all the crazy diagnoses I have had...lol. If you can control your stress the attacks will lessen, but you may have to deal with this for the rest of your life. some of us are worriers and get stressed out easily. :) good luck!

Well, now you are stressed thinking about the stress. Yes, it can last that long. You need to calm down. You aren't going to have a heart attack, so relax. Something is going on with you and you need to think about what it could be that is making you freak. Is it college? Boyfriend problems? Money issues? Think about it. when you figure out what is really got you so worried, you'll calm down.

you've already had two opinions from two separate doctors, therefore your symptoms may be stress/anxiety related. You need to try something that would help you relax. You are the only one who knows what is making you anxious or stressed out. You need to face your anxiety and turn it around. Try to do something that would take your mind off whatever......You probably need to get out and enjoy something that you really like to do. If you are not getting enough exercise, get out and walk. Enjoy the outdoors, it is great for stress relief.

Those symptoms that you experience are called Psychosomatic because you show physical signs related to your emotions.
Your fear of dying gives you anxiety which translates into panic attacks, then in turn you become afraid of suffering another panick attack, and so on.
My advice would be to explore what situation(s) are bothering you, usually involves situations where the outcome is out of your control and this uncertainty bring you anxiety.
This condition is probably affecting your apetite and sleeping patterns. See a psychiatrist (not a psychologist) because they are licensed to prescribe medicines. Excercise is also a good tool to release anxiety and will help you a lot.

yes it can be stress easily. i went through the same thing and i thought i was having a heart attack. i thought i was gonna die that the doctors just didn't understand how i felt. they were obviously missing something. not doing the right tests or something. i knew something was wrong. well i still feel it at times. but it can defiantly be anxiety. they can give you something to relax you . actually surprised they didn't. i hate medications but its a relief when you finally get over feeling that way. good luck. it helps to take a long bath. or find something to advert your mind.

Hi. You probably need to talk to your doctor about anxiety/panic disorder. There are many treatments available now that will help you. Perhaps you could ask for a consult to a psychiatrist who specializes in these matters if your family doctor is unsure.
