to add a person to my profile do i need thier email address?

You need a way to get to their page:
their email adderss, real first and last name or their profile name.
Once you have one of those, and you've located their page, all you have to do is add them as your friend, and wait for them to accept.

Not always. Find them, like search. Click onto them and once you get to the one spot it'll say like Add Me IM ME and all of that, click on add me an dgo through with that. Then they'll get a message where they can either approve you or deny you. When they accept you, then they'll show up on your page.

no.unless the person that you are trying to add put a block on it so only people she knows can add him/her.
