Not my dogs and cats, they have it made. I always said if there were reincarnation I would want to come back as one of my own pets. It is not the animal that is inferior it is how people treat them. Animal cruelity disgusts me to no end. Wild animals are intellegent, self preserving, cunning, that is why they live in the wild and fend for themselves, a human would not make it , the animal would probably eat them, so are they really dumb animals?

only in western world. In India animals are not treated as inferior

Boy I wish I knew the answer to that, the treatment that some animals must endure is unbelievable to me.
And for those that think that a dog has no reasoning or deduction skills, watch a Border Collie in action doing his job,and then think about reasoning or deduction. Must say My Border Collie may be smarter than some Honor Students. Sorry folks, but it is true.

Because they are intellectually inferior to humans. Well, that's what I thought until I read some of the questions and answers on here tonight.

I know exactly how you feel!!!!!! Just because they can't talk, people think they aren't as 'clever' as us. And if they are inferior, then shouldn't we, as superior beings, look after them, not torment them!!!!! I believe animals are cleverer than us in many ways, but can't defend themselves through use of speech, and often can't defend themselves physically either, as we have machines etc., therefore we should protect them, and speak for them. Really, we should leave them alone!!!!

Thanks to likes of the bible which states quite categorically that animals are inferior beings, but everyone knows this to be false.To me an animal is a far better creature than a human. I love animals..................

Generally because they are, or really.. because they do not express or emonstrate reason aor rationality, which is so highly valued and unique in its ocurence amongst humans

are they? they are superior to plants so they need to get to grips as to where they are on the level of intelligent beings and if they tell you different then they are just having ideas above their station and being nasty...
