Cheyenne Central Gay Straight Alliance Mission Statement

The mission of the Central Gay Straight Alliance-hence forth GSA- organization is simple yet important and serious. Today 5 out of every 8 suicide attempters were gay or bisexual -- or put another way, gay and bisexual youth are 13.6 times more likely to have attempted suicide than their heterosexual counterparts. And this only increases in rural areas. Our goal is to provide a safe and mutual area for gay, bi, trans, questioning, and supportive youth of Central High. We will provide educational information upon request. One of our goals is to increase social awareness to GLBT (Gay Lesbian Bi Trans) problems in the community and nation. To provide a safe and open area for anyone who wants to or needs help with GLBT issues, harassment, and information.

I fully applaud your goals, Dearheart, but I'm in Wisconsin! I would love to see a safe place for young gay people. Good luck.

Dark Angel,
I'm afraid that I cannot comment on that.

They are the GLBT and this is the LGBT. It's not appropriate for me to comment, sorry.

Just kidding. Good for them! I hope they operate a clean program. I was suicidal when first dealing with this issue. I guess I ended up pretty good. After wanting to kill myself but not wanting to leave a mess, I am saved and Christian and making messes all over the place!

Who woulda thought? lol

A good mission statement with some good factual information. I wish you'd broaden your focus to include "questioning" youth, as a number of young people aren't sure of orientation, or at least aren't sure they're ready for a label. Other than that, I hope you're successful at reaching young people and making their lives better!

I think the idea wonder full, I wish such a group had been available when I was in High School. If it turns out well maybe other Cities and Towns will follow the example.
