The thing is its not just me.Manager told me from the start she needed 4 other people besides me. Last night when she was giving her boss all those lies and excuses about why I couldnt start that nite, I heard her boss ask her "what about the other 3 applicants u said u were going to hire? So theres some reason she will not hire anyone even though the place is desperate and going to pieces. How long does she think she can pull this off with her boss asking her these questions?

What makes me so angry is that I've contacted her on a regular basis and can never get her to return my calls.(she has her employees screen them and its so obvious.)Thats why her boss questioned her that day bc 1 guy who was covering 4 her didnt know he was talking to her boss, he panicked when she told him who she was and basically told on himself. But they made 1 lie after another to her. Yet when she finally called me to come to work, it was only a 12 hour notice.Had to buy a 3 piece uniform that I really didnt have the money 4.I would have it on fri though.Had to make a bill late for that +sitter+gas.IThe guy that was @ work when I got there actually started to train me bc mngr wasnt there. After 20 mins she got back told me to leave in my car an make copy of my SS#.Came back she told @ 9 i couldnt startto work yet, printer out of ink.I was in uniform, was told 2 b prepared to work so when I got there I assumed I'd be on the clock. She kept me there 2 hours. Should she have to pay me

This does NOT sound like a well-oiled machine...or a good place to work! Unless you are DESPARATE for a job...ANY job...I would RUN, not walk, to the nearest exit. Do not pass go...do NOT call the boss...make a clear, *****-free 'excuse' for not taking the position. If you have these vibes now, you shouldn't expect a change once you start. Remember, the application process is a two-way street...keep going YOUR way...

If you are asked to show up for work, and don't get assigned to a task, yet you are available, almost all states require that you ARE paid for your work. Uniforms that are required for work, but not provided for by your employer, CAN be written-off on your tax return for this year...there is no requirement that your employer must pay for it, unless specified in your employment agreement.

The problem is, even if you do call the boss and s/he says come in, we need you, you will still be reporting to the manager, who, it seems, doesn't want to give you the job. Believe me, you won't be happy working for someone with that attitude.
It doesn't sound fair, and there's no way of knowing why she's stringing you along instead of simply saying she doesn't want you to work there, unless she's afraid of violating a Labor Board ruling and being charged with discrimination or something of the sort.
If you think that may be the case, and if this is a union job, then go for it and be prepared to stand up for yourself every step of the way. If it isn't a union job and you believe you are being discriminated against, you can always tell your story to the newspapers. They love that kind of material. If nothing else, it will make both the boss and the manager sit up and pay attention. But it's up to you whether you think you can work in that atmosphere.

sounds like she is playing games or she does not know what she is doing, write a friendly note to the big boss, ask if you are employed and if so when do i start.. if you keep getting the run around i would look elsewhere for a job, and write them for refund of money spent for uniform. [ the other costs you will have to eat]
call or write the boss or make a appointment to see the boss......

Sounds like a soap opera already. Just run the other way and lick your wounds. Sounds like a mess to be left alone.
I wish you luck!
