It needs indirect light and does the best in a vase of some sort with water covering the roots. Sooo...outside might not be the best place for it.

Yes, and they dont need light, I know that sounds weird, but I used to sell it. We would order it from our local import store, and it would come in big ice chest things. The owner of the store said they sit in a warehouse for months on end with no light. The last one I had in the dark for 6 months and it was still green and alive.

No, lucky bamboo must be kept indoor in a bright light. They grow in a vase full of water. Occasionally, put a few drops of a good plant food in a cup of water, and then pour it into the vase with your plant.

This so called "lucky bamboo" is actually a very soft plant and can die easy, it don't like full sun all day but need sun in the morning, and ample natural light, if you care for it it make a good indoor plant.

They will benefit from a windscreen and light shade when first planted, when they are small. But you should keep in mind that most large bamboos grow quicker and do their best in full sun. In cold weather, protect your bamboos through the winter with a heavy mulch.

you should ask the people where you bought it. but i'm pretty sure its an indoor plant. the direct light might not be good for it.
