I think you pretty much summed it up for me. I agree with what you said above. I like the psychological stuff... makes you think.
I saw The Grudge though, and didn't think it was that scary.
Maybe that's just because I was watching it with a group of friends, and at the end, they just talked about how it was sad but not THAT sad since the guy wasn't THAT cute.
Haha...
But it was a lot more fun watching the other people's reactions to the spookier parts.

The Shining w/Jack Nicholson is an intelligent and scary film, altho it is not advertised as "horror." All other "horror" films seem to have the same general plot and if I am interested in seeing them I'd wait for the video

George Romero, Vincent Price, Del Toro
Horror has many avenues to travel. I try not to limit myself.
Don't forget the classics: The Wolfman, Frankenstien, Creature from the Black Lagoon

nothing.
Except the series supernatural! In there the fighting is cool, and yes the suspension. My fave is the episode of the vampires where Dean jumps behind a druken vampire and says boo and beheads him suddenly.

I like a horror movie to actually be scary. If it has or doesn't have any of those elements is irrelevant.
