Okay, let me put it this way...

Let's say a family consists of a mom and a dad and two kids. There are twenty four hours in a day...

One hour is spent getting ready for work/school in the morning, which leaves 23 hours.

Another hour is spent traveling to and from work, which leaves 22 hours.

Another nine hours a day is spent at work (8 hours plus a 1-hour lunch period) which leaves 13 hours (and this is assuming only one job is being worked and no overtime is put in).

Going through the kids' papers and catching up on the day takes another hour. That leaves us with 12 hours.

Spend two hours getting dinner ready and eating it and then cleaning it up. That leaves 10 hours.

Spend one hour with the kids getting them ready for bed, getting them bathed, etc. That leaves 9 hours.

Sit down for an hour because you HAVE to take a rest at some point in the day or you're going to burn out sooner or later. That leaves 8 hours.

Finishing up the day and getting ready for bed takes another hour, which leaves you with 7 hours to sleep. This is assuming you haven't had to do anything else during that day like teacher's meetings, grocery shopping, etc.

Then your weekends are spent on other tasks and responsibilities and catching up on the sleep you didn't get during the week. Where, exactly, does that leave time for cleaning?

So it's either hire household help (which I personally do but not everyone can afford), go crazy and burn yourself out trying to maintain a clean house just so you can impress the ignorant and judgmental people of the world, or don't give a $**t what other people think and let your house get a little messy so you can spend quality time with your husband and kids.

Unless you walk a mile in another person's shoes, you really shouldn't judge the way they live. JMHO

There is no excuse for a messy house, except being lazy, I had three children and worked 2 partime jobs which added up to more than a full time job and still kept my house orderly. You do have to spend a couple of hours a day keeping the house clean, now it is just me and my husband and I still spend a couple of hours a day, I just make the time, it doesn't bother some people to go to bed with dishes in the sink, some it does, I can't sleep if my house is a mess.

I never knew how messy some people were untill i started watching wife swap.
it's just incredible hou they just don't mind having their kids living in a messy place full of germs and bacteria so not healty.
I think those people were born lazy.

I have a friend that honestly can't stand to clean... her mind is so cluttered that so freaks out if she has to clean! It is her one place where she can ...just not care!

Me on the other hand can't think when my house is a mess and so I leave ... and never take the time to clean because I am always gone! and it just builds up little by little!

messy homes=messy minds.....they can't focus on the clutter, or just don't care. some of the busiest people i know have clean and organized homes, it's just a priority for them.

I speak for myself, and it's pure laziness. I never feel like cleaning.
