I can understand if matter was "created" from the energy that preceded it. But, if energy and matter were created at the same time (during the Big Bang), I think it upsets the "matter/energy can not be created/destroyed" concept.

The conservation of energy - and other conservation laws - only hold in some ranges of the observable universe. We can't make the assumption they "held before" the existence of the universe. In fact, neither "time" as we know it existed "before" the Big Bang. There was no "before", and there is no "after". The current universe just is. And time is just a dimension - a quantity - of the universe we can experience locally. It's impossible to extrapolate physical theories "external" to the universe by using knowledge from "inside".

The energy was already there. Big misconception I see here...people assume the big bang created energy but this isn't true.
Energy cannot be created or destroyed. This is a physical law.
We should all know the big bang was an inflation of energy. So the energy was already there.
When did it begin? Never. It never began and will never end; it cannot be created and cannot be destroyed.
As much as this is hard to grasp, it is reality. Now then, whatever triggered the change in energy; ie the big bang, is not known.

I second the above comment... the Big Bang theory is massively flawed. Not to sound all religious on this forum or anything, but... that's where science alone can't explain certain things
