If Alberta has such a shortage of people to work, why not cut off the funding to the useless and unwilling and make them go back to work. With the wages we are offering anybody can survive on their own without gov't aid. I am not saying cut them off immediately, give them some help until the paycheck start rolling in an then let them stand on their own two feet. If they can't seem to find a job or hold one then cut them off totally because obviously they are unwilling and just to lazy to support themselves. Am I right? What do you think?

Let's look at this from another point of view. Would you want to live in a house built by someone who knew nothing about carpentry and didn't care if he worked or not? That doesn't sound like a winning proposition to me. The labour shortage in Alberta is not predicated upon general labour, but on tradesmen, journeymen and trained construction workers. If it was just a question of hiring someone to go around and pick up trash from the streets, or to go out in the fields and sling bales of hay onto a truck that would be a different question. But there are very few unskilled jobs around these days.
I do agree that something needs to be done, however. There are far too many able bodied men and women who are getting a free ride on the system, and it wasn't designed for that. Perhaps enlisting them in the militia might be a step in the right direction. If nothing else they would learn what a good work ethic was.

Here in Alberta we are experiencing an unpredicted boom, so labour shortage is inevitable. It started with Ft. McMurray growing so quickly it is now busting at the seams. They just weren't prepared for it. Now it has spread to all of Alberta and has become a crisis situation because there just aren't enough people to train those who are just starting out. Something's gotta give here and I think we should be preparing for a bust if housing prices are any indication. If Ralphie would loosen his purse strings a bit we could solve a lot of problems. They have totally relaxed the rules now for foreign labour, so we will see a lot more of that in the near future.

"useless and unwilling" has not been proved, has it? it's a subjective statement , right?

you may not know why someone is apparently unable to work and that doesn't mean they are "useless and unwilling".
