It annoys me that whatever I have to buy, be it a wok or a dish, some of my hardearned cash will go to line the pockets of celebrity chefs. Are we so gullible that we will only buy a product if it is endorsed by a celebrity?

The question is, did you do some research to find out whether there were products of similar quality not endorsed by celebrities?

I am quite sure there are, and people like you, and me, who do not think giving some 'celebrity' a portion of my cash where they had nothing to do with my purchase is a huge waste, should buy products without celebrity endorsement.

It is a simple question of profits.

A company will pay a celebrity if the increase in revenues as a result of the endorsement is more than what the celebrity gets paid. Else the endorsement would be costing the company profits.

If we are not happy with 'wasting' our money by paying extra because a product is celebrity-endorsed, the onus is on us to find an alternative. For example, New Balance, the shoe company prides itself in having no celebrity endorsements.

The thing is that there are enough 'gullible' or star-struck people who will follow certain celebrities to make the endorsement profitable for the company; so the concept remains.

Personally, in general, I don't really care who endorses a product or not, I just look at the price of the product and the quality. For similar quality, I will go for lower price, irrespective of endorsement or not. On the contrary, celebrities are more likely to make me NOT buy a product if I don't like a certain celebrity, and have no positive effect.

No, we are not all gullible. I buy products because I want/need them. I don't believe in following people who serve no purpose, hence my reasons for not following the latest fashion, or wearing name brand clothes. I think companies and the advertising industry should let members of the public advertise products, since it is the average person who will be using them...that will also give members of the public the opportunity to earn some cash which would prevent the rich getting richer

Not only I am sick with such products, but also with the whole idea of celebrity. People just famous for nothing. I am never influenced by such endorsements. People who are must have really sad and unattractive lives.

yes i don't buy their products and i also don't go to their movies or buy their DVDs. I decided about 2-3 years ago that i was tired of them getting millions when we normal citizens have to get by on sooooooooooooo little. My son is a Marine and i think he gets too little money for putting his life on the line.

I will not buy any endorsed products, they wouldn't bother about it if they were not getting some big fat fee and I am not paying part of that fee for them.

I don't agree with it at all

they have millions but want to be god damn greedy and get billions

they can't just focus on making good food ... they have to have it all branded foods, electronic machines, frying pans

it's just another way to line there pockets, most are which, are already bulging and ready to bust

it's like hello ....
stick to your job and let somebody else make a buck around here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

~Speak for yourself. I buy based on price, quality and value for my dollar. With or without celebrity endorsements, do you really figure you are going to buy something without contributing to advertising costs?

well celebrities eat too, don't they ? who do you want to trust, some random jackass off the street, or a trustworthy friend that everyone knows, like george forman ? If he says its healthy, and "he guarantees it" it must be good for you (except the mufflers, I strongly detest them, they're too hard on my teeth and leave a horrible aftertaste)
