Because they spend billions drilling for oil and don't find any.
They get tax breaks because the whole world depends on them drilling oil for our sorry arses.
Tax breaks help everyone.

because they are hurting for money... HAHAHAHHA...

I've not seen a good reason for it.. if any industry can afford to pay taxes and pay for research, it's the oil companies...

maybe we should just give all millionares and extra million dollars too, tax the poor people to do it? what do you think?
