If I let my five year old play M rated video games . He is very good at all the games he plays. He's played games like God of War and Grand Theft auto, Destroy all humans and finished them faster than his teen age cousins. He is always supervised and the volume is turned off with games like Grand theft Auto. He plays the other E rated games but seems to master them pretty fast. What should I do??

He has all of the games imaginable..like Kingdom hearts, looney toons, ratchet, monster house etc. But I mean it when i say it 2 days max he has completed the game. But the first person and adventur games like Cabelas deer hunter takes him about a week. He just started kindergarden and dont have much homework and can read pretty good for 5. My concern is that it seems not to be affecting him now but will it later, I'm unsure??

Did Bugs Bunny hopelessly warp an entire Generation into senseless, slobbering war-mongering fools? Well, maybe some of us, but I digress. Let the kid enjoy what is a very fleeting time in his life- video games are excellent developers of hand-to-eye coordination and problem-solving.
Encourage play violence now, real violence will not be an issue down the road.

Seriously, Letting him play violent games and M rated video games is one of the worst things you can do to him. I can explain it to you but there are a LOT of reasons. The best thing is to limit his video game time to 4 hours a week. Instead teach him how to read or an instrument. Something educational that will benefit him later. Even if he is a smart child ( which i bet he is) showing thing something like that can turn to be destructive.
I know you like thats boring but a 5 yr olds mentality is sensative. he takes a lot more from what he sees compared to an adult.

I will just say this, i don't think your a bad person, but i have a three year old that knows way too much for her age, and thats just with watching cartoons on cartoon network. In my opinion, its hard enough to raise kids right, and teach them right from wrong without putting the bad right in front of them. A 5 year old should not be seeing the violence that goes on in such games, it may not show that its effecting him in anyway at the moment, but in later times, i guarentee he says or does something in that game, just for the fact that he doesn't understand that it is wrong. i'd stick with the E rated games a little longer.
But no.... your not a bad person, just not using your best judgement.

You are not a bad person just misguided. Ask his school what you can give him to challenge his mind, Video games are a fantasy, and some children never get reality straight. Look at that young man who shot up the school he lived in his fantasy world, and thought he would die in one. Now he is really dead and so is an other student. He too was respectful

I don't see any problem with it as long as he knows they are just games and not try to act them out. My son is 7 and he plays grand theft auto, bloody roar and hes not violent or disturbed.
Its ok, just use disipline and the games will be nothing more than video games.

Well, in my eyes your teaching your 5 yr old its ok to kill if you get a reward (I've played grand theft auto & you earn money & stuff) but its your kid not mine. I was 12 when I started & beat Grand Theft Auto Vice City. & I'm a girl. (that surpises some ppl) But I understand that i dont need to go out & kill ppl or pick up hookers (or go with pimps or gimps) So Even though i dont agree with it its your choice not mine.

Hopefully, he reads and does math just as fast...you seem to be doing a good job but all the violence is'nt good for his young mind...get him some RPG's like Zelda or Kingdom Hearts.

I think five yrs old is a little too young, I'd say 9 or 10 would be ok.
