I believe 1,000 milliseconds are in a second, and 100 centigrams in a gram since the prefix Milli- means one thousandth and cent- means one hundredth

You can remember this by using a rhyme.
King Henry Died BellyUp Drinking Chocolate Milk.
K-Kilo
H-Hecta
Dk-Deca
Bu-Basic unit (gram, meter, liter)
D-Deci
C-Centi
M-Mili
So when ever you want to go from Mili to Deca count the number of time you have to move to get to Deca. Then move the decimal space that many time in the direction you counted. For example from mili to deca you move 4 time left, so... lets say you want to convert 1 milimeter into a decameter. You move the decimal spot from 1, four time to the left. so .0001Dkm equals 1 mm
