we were removing the harmonic balancer with a puller when that little rod you stick inside there broke off, its now lodged in there and we realy dont know how to remove it without ******* up the threads, any suggestions?

i'm sorry to tell you if you pressed it in there you have already ****** up the threads so stop worrying about it now. if you pull the crank out a local machine shop can fix. dont feel bad i did the same a few years back with a impact (real smart )

The only way to accomplish this little task is to drill it out.
Drill a hole approximately 2/3 to 3/4 the side of the broken part, in the very center, and then use an easy-out available from a parts or hardware store. Tap it in with a hammer and use a wrench to back it out.

if your able to get it out of the crank, you can always use a helicoil. i used a helicoil on my crank and its in a 350 SBC thats been worked over for big horse power, i was hesitant at first but its workin great.

either compressed air or drill through it with a small bit...not too small maybe about 5/16...tap it with a 5/16 tap then use a slide hammer to pop it out of there.
