It's discusting the way gay teens, and gay people or lesbians are treated in general. Sure, our society has come a long way, but to a point where being gay is tolerated, not accepted--which is a point overlooked by many straight people. No one should have to be hurt by others to the point of contemplating suicide. I know suicide is more common among gay youth than non-gay youth. Suicide is a whole other issue that is horrible no matter what someones sexual orientation is. I just want to give you props for standing up for what you believe in, I think that's the most important thing, and the only thing a person really ever has to do. I'm sure it's extremely hard by times, but with the rates the way they are, maybe standing up could save someones life. As far as I'm concerned, no one should have to die for their sexual orientation.

1. They may be isolated in a small community, with no one to talk to about it. Society finds security in the majority. If more LGBT came out, society would be forced to deal with equal rights and protection.
2. Their family may make mocking jokes about Gays, that makes them withdraw even more into depression. There are just a lot of mean, ignorant people who don't think or care about whom they hurt.
3. Kids at school may be cruel to Gays — usually learned by the parents attitudes.
4. They don't know what resources are available to them for help.
5. President Bush has done nothing in the schools to help Gay kids. Actually, Bush hasn't done much to help anyone. It appears that people keep dieing during his administration.
Good luck and warm regards.

Pressure to conform, and you know you don't. Often there's seems to be no answer and you feel so uncertain. There's nobody to talk and you feel so different. You're just not like the other guys. And then's the weird strangers who seem to have a sixth sense and come on to you. And then all that religious stuff people shove down your neck.
It's enough to drive you to suicide, let alone the awful clothes your parents make you wear.

Everyone should love everyone for there individual orientation.. Many Children these days are suppressed living in a family where they have been brought up to believe being gay is wrong... They are many times unable to talk to there parents due to the nature that the parents have commented negatively there entire child hood... Starting back to Blue is for boy and Pink is for girls..... Its sad.... Most of these horrifying bible thumpers don't realized how many youngsters are on here looking for support.. Then the last thing they here before they go to bed is that they are going to burn in hell for being gay.... They are teaching gods words..... This is a very tragic epidemic.

I use to think about suicide and still do. My mom dosen't accept me the way I am and she basically forces me to live the way she wants me to live. I feel that I can't be myseld no matter what. I am in college now and she still threatens me. She says she will not pay for my college. She made me go to the college I am at and she will not let me get my hair cut or get piercings or anything she thinks will make me look like a lesbian. I guess other teens do it because they feel trapped. It is a crappy feeling. I hate it. I want to be able to do what I want but I cant.

They feel alone, lonely, they can't find someone to talk to about being gay, or they aren't accepted by their parents. Its different for everyone. But I would think the suicide rate is mosly high for gay teenagers because of being young and not finding many people that they can relate to.

I had suicidal thoughts before coming out, I had experience alot of ridicule for being gay during my teens. I felt unloved, I knew I couldn't change who I was and I felt no one would accept me being gay. I wasn't out at the time but I based my decision on the negativity that I experienced. Life didn't seem worth living but I did come out later to my family and friends and got positive responses.

That people think killing themselves is the only way to end their suffering is a terrible shame for all of humanity.
There is probably minimal support for them, they feel reviled and like outcasts and see no point in going on and that is just a terrible, terrible thing.
You only have to click on the religion section or read some of the hateful posts here to see what people in the larger community think of gays.
What a waste of life.
All I can think is better education is needed to let them know that it is an acceptable way to live.... but reading the filth people write here, I'm beginning to wonder myself.....

i think society truly sends gay teens to commit suicide or if its not us...its other people killing us off...because they fear for themselves...i blame society totally for this because it can be prevented if everybody just would mind their business...we aren't hurting anybody were just living our lives the way everybody else does...i truly believe the teens that kill themselves are drove to do that...why am i saying this about a year and half ago where I'm from...this young 16 boy shot his father and then killed hI'mself...at first nobody knew the true...so his sister released the suicide not he wrote...and it said...i did what i did...because i could no longer live in pain...no longer being tortured or made fun of because i was gay...if everybody could just understand that im human like them and i want to live my life the way they do maybe i wouldn't feel so unwanted...he shot his father because he's father wouldn't let him voice himself and was always bashing him about his life style...i think people should open up their eyes and realize....they causing people to kill themselves...and stop being so ignorant...
