MAX IS 10 Years in 4 year terms. How? If s/he is the vice president and the president is removed from office the day after midway through their term, the vice is president for the remainder of that term. Then the new president can legally run 2 more times.

The defined term is 4 years - Jan 21 A to Jan 20 B. A president can serve 2 terms (the 22nd amendment or FDR rule).

In the US each term is 4 years. A president can only be elected for 2 terms then he must resign.

Well, as long as the president is not impeached during a term they can be elected for a frist term of 4 years and then can rerun for another 4 years. 8 years(two terms) is the total someone can be President in their lifetime.

4 yrs. they can be elected for up to two terms, but not exceed 10yrs as president. example: a vice president gained office because the president died 2 yrs. into his term. he was then elected 2 more times for a total of 10 yrs
