Diets are not a good way to lose weight and can be harmful to your health. Short term loses are usually gained back as soon as you get off of the diet. A person needs to relearn to eat. It is a total behavior change to make the weight loss long term and healthy. You have to learn to keep and prepare the correct foods which is simply a well-balanced food program that we all learned in elementary school! Along with a change in our physical behavior this is the only positive and successful way to lose weight! Have a great day!

This is from an expert dieter of 30+ years. No dieting is not good because it slows your metabolism. If you just made a few simple changes such as diet soda or water instead of regular in a year you would loose at least 5-10 pounds. I think increasing exercise time or making changes in what u eat is better for u.

Many experts now say that we need a life style change. Change our eating habits, do more exercise, etc. This is good advice. However to lose weight you need to consume less calories than you use. This way you will lose weight. So one does not actually have to eat less calories; one can increase his or her activity to expend more calories.
If a person is in a health crisis because of his or her weight, such as high blood pressure, uncontrolled diabetes, etc. a reducing diet would be the only way to go.

moderate and conscious eating is the best way. it's more about life style as opposed to a get thin technique. a combo of excersize and a balanced healthey diet is important to loose weight. just try to cut back on your portions and calories. leave fast food completely out. if you have to have it get a plain hamburger, no cheese or mayo and have them add mustard. eat whole grain breads and avoid starches. alittle something once in a while isn't going to hurt you. just be mindful of what's going in. drink tons and i mean tons of water. and keep a food journal. this will help you loose weight over time.
