I heard is bad because of all the chemicals in the products they use and also because of the smell. I also heard you could do it after the first three months, is this true?

My OB told me no hair dying until after the first trimester. Nails are fine if you can handle the smell in the salon.

it all depends on if you can stand the smell. If you are sensitive to smells it may make you sick to your stomach but I've had friends who have had their hair died and nails done all through the pregnancy and the kids turned out ok. I think its an individual thing, up to you to decide. Nails definitely wouldn't hurt the baby because your nails are hard and anything you put on them doesn't go into your body. There is a slight chance that some of the chemicals while dyeing your hair could enter your body but I've heard pro and con about it. I don't honestly think they know for certain. It's your call.

YOUR HAIR
There is not enough evidence to say you shouldnt have your hair done, however consider the toxic odours and make sure your in a well ventilated room.

YOUR NAILS
A lot of cut price salons use toxic MMA bonding agents with artificial nails. Its cheaper and easier to apply often applied in one large ball with a big brush.
It has an acrid fruity odour and vapours can cause heart, lung, liver and kidney damage, rashes eye nose and throat irritation, pins and needles and May damage a fetus.

It is supposedly banned but has still been used in some salons. Ask the question and if they dont speak english or cant show you the container the product came from Go elsewhere.

Remember cheap isnt always good

the smells might make you sick thats why it is ideal to wait after the 1st 3 months when you will feel better

and regarding the hair pay attention on what you do because in some cases the hair during pregnancy gets really fragile and if you colour your hair or put on any other strong chemicals you may damage it

I had a very healthy son I think its a personally choice b/c so of the chemical did upset my stomach but I just avoided those chemicals

It's perfectly safe. Do be precautious though, and either ask that a fan/fans be turned on, or wear a surgical type ventilation/face mask to avaid inhaling fumes. You can get the white masks at Walmart, or just about any hardware store in the painting section.

I had my nails done all the time. Even the day I went into labor. I am not sure about getting your hair done though. You should just ask your doctor.
