It's not just born, if it was it's eyes would be closed and it wouldn't be walking around. If it is a newborn, it will die without it's mother. If it's out on it's own, it's probably ok to live on it's own. It will most likely die if you keep it, I'd say put it out in a field/woods. If you insist anyway on keeping it, they sell mouse/rat food at walmart/pet stores.

Hi

If your mouse has fur , it was not born today. Mice are born Naked. THey are weaned partially at 2 weeks and fully by 4 weeks. If it is running around its obviously strayed.

I doubt you will find mom as she is probably with the mouses siblings..

You should put it back down and see where it goes.

If it is an unweened baby it is VERY unlikely it will survive.

Do not keep it as a pet..put it back

If you jut cant do that, then call the zoo or other animal center and ask for advice.

Good Luck

Go to the local vet or petstore and buy the milk powder that they use to feed kittens that have lost thier mother. Mix up a very small bit of this and then dip the end of a thin cloth into it till it drips milk and then move the end to the mouses mouth and let the milk drip into the mouth. eventually the baby will start nursing on the cloth. If you plan to release this animal back into the wild you must make sure physical contact is very minimal. Now having said that if it is a very young mouse it will not know how to go to the bathroom. You will need a warm, wet cloth and you will need to use the cloth to stroke the mouses hind end to stimulate defication.

Take it to a wildlife rescue, as they can deal with it. If you really want to look after it yourself, they may let you, but will provide you with the bottles and formula you need, which will depend on its age etc. Be careful of taking it to a vets, as most would just put it down straight away.

baby mouse food? LOL Seriously, call the pet shop, I would imagine they will suggest getting the nursing milk they sell in cans for puppies and cats and give it a dropper full of it. its too young to eat solid food yet.

mice are born pink they are all pink with no hair if it has fur it is older. Let it go, Mice carry all kinds of germs,if it bites you you will have to get a tetnis shot. I realize you are trying to be a good caring person but its best to let it go and let nature take its course.

the question is, what are you going to feed the mouse to? most reptiles eat baby mice, including my bearded dragon, and my dog(boxer) would probably not.
