Well, sexism and genderism are two different thing to me. Sexism referring to the invalidation of intersexes as valid sexes, and genderism a segregation based on gender whether in protection or privileges.
Gendered inequality comes to live in the bodies... The institution of education even perpetuates gendered inequalities in how it administers education. So, if you've internalized the inequality at say, age 5, you could very well be limited from the start in your ability to get a job, specific education, your emotional health even.
Link is to a Final i wrote for my Sociology of Gender class some time ago. It is a draft, but it discusses gendered inequality, education, and how people learn to be unequal, and in turn pass those inequalities on to others through laws, education, religions, etc.
yes, there are still vast amounts of gendered inequality in existence today. First Link below gives examples and explanations.
I agree with robert on the specific point that men can also experience [genderism].

Yes, although my main experiences have come from other women! I managed some Radio Shack stores and had a couple different women come in and say they only wanted a man to help them. Even after calmly explaining that I was the manager and qualified to assist they snippily insisted on a male. I told them I was the only one on duty for several days, take it or leave it and they left. Sorry, but my sense of humor and good will was not at its best at this moment.
I also was a warehouse manager for Sears and I remember delivering a household appliance to a couple elderly ladies at the curb and they flipped out. "A Woman! They sent a Woman!" (I had flashbacks of the scene from Medicine Man with Sean Connory). They were going to write to the company and insist that this was unacceptable for the company to hire women to do heavy work. I explained to them that I needed a job and that Sears was willing to give me the chance - that this was a good thing, not a bad one.

Yes sexism is still alive and well even today. But not just towards women, you might even say it's gone even more the other way. And please people get your facts straight, that whole "women make 75 cents on the dollar that a man makes" is a little misleading. A lot of those figures are skewed. Just because somebody bothered to print those figures (probably a feminist) doesn't mean they're entirely accurate.

Oh course, women are significantly different from men so it is expected. We are different by genes and gender (gender is learned from infantcy) so it is expected for certain treatment of one sex. Although many women are expected to do the same as men, we don't get the benefits of taking on more responsibilty. We are still considered weaker, which is crap. We work, take on kids single, and look beautiful all in the same day! Do we get credit? No! I'm not a mother nor do I have a house to that care of, but I do have a physical job and I work harder than most of the men there. Also, I have to be beautiful or no guy will want me. I am beautiful but why should I have to be? Although money isn't really important to guys they will take a waitress if she is pretty.

Oh yes, Look up domestic violence! And then you can think about all the stereotypes.....
It is common knowledge, that women encourage this by setting example or teaching their children that boys do this and girls do that.....E.x 1: girls are encouraged to act "proper"and boys get a pat in the shoulder when they talk about what the did for example after the prom.....
Ex2:Girls do the dishes and wash clothes, boys wash the car and cut the lawn....

Men and women are different (thank God!). I am a man and I do not want a love affair with a man! This is sexism at a basic normal level. Unluckily, there are womanizers and also male bashers. I grew up with all sisters and prefer female advice and friendship. This is reverse sexism. Murder is most definitly wrong but still happens.

o yeah girl sexism is everywhere. it is even somewhere u would not expect it to be. u no i took women's studies and we had a huge study on that . i can give you a lot of big as well as little (almost unnoticable examples)...it was so interesting. they are things that noone would even pay attention to on a regular basis. but if u do pay attention, u c sexism everywhere. for example, the article would say "mr president and his wife and his children"...it shows that wife belongs to him together with children...it really should go 'mr pr, his wife and their children' ...or the simple fact that children r totally exposed to such things like 'comon b a man!!!' or 'act like a girl!!!'...etc..i found that course amazing....opened my mind...

You have no idea!! In one of my old churches, the pastor disagreed with having a woman lead the church. And it isn't just in church you know. Sexism is also prevalent in work places and is in my opinion, more prevalent then racism in this modern day and age. But jump at it no matter what. There's no reason why girls can't do football and guys can't do ballet or figure skating.
