Be careful, take lots of water, and make sure you keep your gas tank above 1/4 full.
I would also take a small emergency kit and if you have a sleeping bag, toss that in too.
The freeway is well patrolled and the police are ready to stop and help if it looks like you need it. It should be a pretty easy trip, but it is an all-day trip through desert. If you get tired easily, you may need to have a partner to help drive and keep you company.
There was construction over the Hoover Dam and security checkpoints if you go that way, but they didn't take long to get through.
Good luck and safe roads.

You need to check & see of the route over the damn is still closed. It was closed due to a crane falling across the roadway. The road maybe down to one lane, & still extremely crowded. Can you say 3 hours to get over the damn ? Might be better to go thru Searchlight & Laughlin. See ya Here
