I dont like McAfee. Here is what i would suggest and this works perfect and its free. Go to this website http://www.download.com and look up AVAST and downlowd the virus protector...it works so much better than anything you would ever pay for :) Good luck!

Ok, now. Heres the bottom line. If you are going to pay (which i recommend) get Trend Micro PC-Cillin 2007. It is an all around security Suite and is the best. Plus it has Free Phone SUpport Unlike Norton or McAfee who charge like what $3 per minute? Outrageous. Trend Micro has one of the best scanners and is best for your money. Take my advice, Ive been using the computers for about 15 years and Ive tried Norton, McAfee, and Trend Micro. Norton was good up until version 2003. McAfee is just bloatware and doesnt do anything except take up resources. Trend Micro is the best. Buy that.
Now if your going to be one of those people who say "I dont belive in paying for software, there are free ones out there who [supposedly] do a better job." Then your best bet is AVG free Edition with Zonealarm Free Edition Firewall.
Good Luck! Stay safe!

you need to buy something. What ran out was your subscription to an update service that protects you from new viruses. You are still OK for the old ones but the virus writers are always making new ones so you need to keep covered.
I have had both McAfee and Norton. They are not much different.

Don't spend money on Norton or McAfee, they're both hideously bloated wastes of cash and the free alternatives are just as good.
Install these and you're covered:
Free ZoneAlarm Firewall: http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp
Free AVG anti-virus: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
And make sure to fullt uninstall McAfee before you install those or it'll hang around slowing your machine down and conflicting with your new security applications.

McAfee sucks, Norton sucks
I use AVG free edition on all 11 of my PCs.
I also like Ewido antispyware, both are available free at http://free.grisoft.com
If you have Windows XP, it has a built in firewall, so you don't need to buy one.
I run Windows Defender (free antispyware) as well.

I've been using AVG free edition for years and never had a problem with it.
Give it a try before you go out spending your hard earned.
