Some people say that open relationships work for them.
Personally, I doubt it.

While I, personally, prefer monogamy it is really a question for the people involved. My own observation has been that, in most cases, one of the partners wants an "open" relationship so they are free to be promiscuous while always having a safety net to fall back on, but that partner also tends to be jealous and possessive, unwilling to extend the same freedom to his/her mate. That doesn't mean it can't work, I do know of one couple who worked out a deal where they were heterosexually monogamous, i.e Him: No woman but her, all the men he wants; Her: No man but him, all the women she wants. For them, it worked. There are as many views of the ideal relationship as there are people having them, as long as it's mutually enjoyable activity between consenting adults in the privacy of their own home, it's nobody Else's business.

For me, no.
I know people -- primarily men (not to say women don't...I just know more men like this) -- who seem to be successful in open relationships.
