And some of them still ARE monkeys :-) Now what will come from us, who knows, but it, for sure will not evolve through the traditional genetic route as all species (including us) have up to this point bio-engineering will change all of that very, very soon. In only some decades, humans will, whether we like it or not be designed, and newer generations of humans will improve upon the previous ones, much like computers do right now. This obviously has horrible and great consequences:
Good: Genetic defects (such as down syndrome will be ironed out)
Good: Diseases that have strong genetic components to them, such as Diabetes will be cured
Bad: Humans may become commodities that go through release cycles such as computers nowadays. You may decide to design your son with the latest genome available (say genome version 3.5) when he is about to be conceived to make him smart, tall, handsome, etc. Only to find out that 10 years after a much better genome version is released (say genome version 4.5) that makes humans designed with that genome much smarter than your son and make your son, therefore obsolete and unemployable.
Now, you may say, why would we tolerate that. Why would we allow the human species to become a product that gets improved without regard to older people? Well, I agree with you there, but unfortunately, I think that the economic forces of global competition might (and, the unstoppableness of human curiosity)will make it very hard to put a stop to such a future. If the US and the EU decide to outlaw designed babies, maybe China or Korea or The Republic of whatever empty island on the pacific decides to make a buck out of it might allow them, and people might end up being born smarter, taller, faster, etc in those places driving the rest of us ino obsolesence.
So, that being said, what will come from us I don't know, the only thing I know is that the human species as it has existed up to today probably is on it's last legs, and the future for the new, redesigned species is indeed something we've never seen ...we will be a very, very different species a lot sooner than we think. The changes that you and I will see will make the changes that our parents saw (computers, radio, TV, etc) look like changing the decoration in a caveman's cave in terms of how complex and profound a change in our species they will have.
Exciting and scary times ahead, indeed!

If that is true, then why can't a human successfully receive a heart transplant from a baboon???? Did you mean "monkeys" or did you mean "The Monkies"......they were a '70's band with 4 guys. If your grammar is any indicator...I would say that stupid people would come from you.

Yes, we came from ape-like beings. ... What will come from us, on the other hand, will mostly depend on where we will (assuming if at all, of course) continue our evolutionary process for the foreseeable future (i.e. hundreds of thousands to a few million years). ... If on Earth (which seems highly unlikely at the rate we are going) we'll probably be annihilated long before anything new and decent can have a chance to evolve from us. ...If in space, however, then it is only logical to imagine that our evolution will take a whole different path due to the varying gravitational fields, extended deep space travel challenges, and other as yet unknown conditions to be encountered. ... Some have even speculated that the ET's are in fact "us" who are time-traveling to the past (or as maybe) to either re-encounter their ancestors or possibly even make a few modifications to repair the anomalies in the future substrate. ... Whatever the case maybe, and speculate as we might, I still say we are hard-pressed to think of anything "Meaningful" coming from the human race on the Universal perspective scale. ... By the way, that's not a pessimistic view, but a purely realistic one. And as we know, evolution favors fundamentally sustainable forms, even if it happens to be a shape-shifting "intelligent" electromagnetic cloud, catching rides on wormholes to avoid the black holes! ... To me the ultimate evolution would be one involving the Universe itself transcending Being.

Figuratively speaking, people's heads are getting bigger and bigger, and their hearts are getting smaller. Who knows what creature that will end up being.

People did not come from monkeys.
People did not come from apes.
People came from ape-like creatures.
No one knows what will come from us. Maybe nothing. There aren't too many trigonotarbids (giant pseudo-spiders) around anymore. Or trilobites.
