It's all about personal preference. Just know that if something goes wrong with the labor (God forbid!), a midwife may not have the expertise or the equipment to help you out.

My co-worker knows a couple who chose to go with a home birth and opted for a midwife. Well, there were complications during labor and the baby's arm was raised up next to its head when it was passing through the birth canal. Needless to say, the baby got stuck and didn't get enough oxygen to the brain. For the first couple of days, the baby was diagnosed with brain damage and was hooked up to a respirator. Sadly, the baby passed away last week. I say, better safe than sorry, but that's just me.

Midwives are experts in normal birth.

With a midwife you are much less likely to have interventions such as induction, drugs, and unnecessary exams. You will also have more choices about where you give birth.

Doctors know a lot, but they specialise in problems, not normal healthy birth. Birth is a natural occurence not a medical emergency!

I prefer to go with doctors myself because they have more extensive medical training than midwives and have more knowledge of different medications that can be used during pregnancy. If you are high risk a medical doctor would be a better choice.
