What are the pros and cons of Texas relative location to Mexico?

What would you say are good and bad situtaions for the relative location between Texas and Mexico.

Texas wouldn't be Texas if it weren't for Mexico. The price paid is a high alien population, but you have to love a culture that is as ancient as the Mezzo Americans, a culture that embraces life on its own terms. Accepts the depths of poverty yet embraces hope so fervently. Hard work and the acceptance of the world the way it is, sometimes cold and hard but often loving and colorful.
