Water , water everywhere lots of lots of water. hydro = water thermal = temperature real my made up upon my little knowledge answer. hydrothermal power works well in Iceland because of dew point,condensation,and the temperature . It works like this because of the effect the sun and atmosphere have there being as how the sun is a big part of the water cycle.

Don't trust my on this it's just an educated guess.

Well because there is a lot of plate activity going on beneath iceland. So it is hot down there meaning there will be hot sources of water to exploit
