Its obvious that there are no checks & balances in America's government due to the republican majority rule.

Its obvious that the current administration is willing to go to war against countries who do not pose an immediate threat to America - and its also highly possible that the current administration allowed a conspiracy to take place on 9/11 as a means of forcing America to war in the Middle East.

Its obvious Bush is a WAR CRIMINAL at this point - though he probably won't be impeached... I'm reffering to the use of torture and illegal detainment of arabs in Guantanamo (ruled unconstitutional) which even the Republican party's REAL WAR VETERANS (not some bullsh!t Texas Air Force National Guard) have detracted from. i.e. John Mccain.

Its obvious BUSH lied to America about the reason for the war and it is obvious he's a puppet of the militant right wing.

THAILAND RECENTLY HAD A COUP, WHY NOT AMERICA?

OUR GOVERNMENT IS CORRUPT.

It is our duty as Americans too dismantle the government if it reaches this level of corruption as per the US CONSTITUTION.

The majority of the military is away right now and most of the military personell left behind are against this UNJUST war right now...if we rise up against these dictators, we just might be able to force change.

The mere fact Bush hasn't been impeached or trialed on the Iraq war just shows that right now America is a dictaorship. You are right about no checks and balances - and they are WRONG about the current state being due to "democracy"...the Florida election was a FIASCO...stolen from gore and America has been in hell ever since then.

My only problem with a coup would be that those psychotic White Nationalists would use any uprising as an excuse to start a race war. Maybe we are better off just leaving things the way they are. America has grown too fat and lazy to bother with revolution.

Well you will have a hard time staging a coup with out some kind of military support. Just walking in and saying hand it over isn't going to work. Secret Service is a small army itself. I am sure you will not be able to find enough like minded people who have the experience to take on the Secret Service, FBI, D.C. Law Enforcement and all four of the major branches of the military, coast guards, national guard from all states, remember that little oath, to defend against all enemies foriegn and DOMESTIC! But have it I am sure there are enough of you out there to cause a commotion and make the news.

Listen - remember the Hispanics who all got together and marched and joined forces to be heard in this country?

I am guilty as all get out as well as everyone else. We are so busy trying to one-up the guy next door with his new car or sterio system or 5000 sf house that nobody has time anymore.

Remember a time when we actually knew our neighbors? Said hello to them when we passed in the street? Looked out for each other's kids? Had BBQ dinners for the street we lived on? Where is all of that now?

As Americans, myself included working 2 jobs to try and make ends meet, we have socially isolated ourselves to the point where we don't really and truly CARE about our neighbor or social contact or getting to really know people. We pass in the street, "Hey, how are you?" You and I both know we really don't care or expect an answer. When was the last time someone said, "Well, I am really not that well..." and we stopped and had a good conversation and maybe followed up with that person in a week's time to see how they were?

This society, myself included, is so absolutely obsessed with trying to either survive or get material things that we don't have a chance to get together and raise any coup, nevertheless get to know each other.

Just my opinion. Maybe it is just me that has lost touch. I don't know.

AbFabMom has it right on the nose. We are too lazy to bust a move or organize a coup. We complain about the political shithole our country is in to co-workers, friends and Y!Answers but when it comes time to go home for the day, all that is on the mind of the American is their big screen TV, dancing with the stars or survivor episodes and what they will wear for work tomarrow.
I am not anti American, I just call 'em like I see 'em.

Than evidentilly you dont know what you are talking about. You dont know anything about the system and what it takes to make somthing happen.. If you and every other whinny baby in the US stood up and backed up your complaints, you could change what happens. Have you contacted your representative/senator to complain about the war or why this happened or that happened? Probably not! then you are part of the reason it is the way it is. If you dont like it, then go over to Iran or Iraq, you might like it better. Ever politician has lied one time or another, so if your that much better, then run for office and make a difference! Naw, your too lazy huh!

Before you speak you should check your facts. I am in the military as are most of my friends. Most of the military is not in Iraq. There are approximately 130,000 out of over a million in the military that are deployed to Iraq. Second, maybe you should actually find out if the military doesn't support the president before saying that we do. The MAJORITY of the military does support our president and what we are doing in Iraq and the war on terror. You can't have a coup because the military supports our government. If you don't like our country then move to Mexico. There should be plenty of space down there for you since they are all moving up here.

No checks and balances because the republicans are in power? The fact that Republicans are in power is the result of something called "democracy"- a term no doubt alien to you and your communist ideals. Feel free to attempt a coup, but remember that conservatives respect ALL of the constitution, not just the first amendment, and that includes the right to bear arms. We've got the guns, and we would be proud to exercise our right to use them whilst putting down your unpopular revolution.

A coup d'etat against this government would be simple. Just organize another million man march on Washington with a peaceful premise. Then............!!!!! What would the govmn't do then, massacre a million or more of its own citizens? I would hope not.

I'll let you fill in the blanks. Don't need any suits showing up here.

a change to what exactly? clinton was much worse in many ways. if he had been awake during the late 90's, bin laden would be in jail today and 9/11 may have been prevented. Clinton had the chance to start a universal healthcare system, but what happened? nothing

Just between you and me, I'm kind of afraid this might be our only hope of preventing a New World Order fascist police state in this country. If it were to happen though, it would be the government, and the U.S. military against us. Doesn't look too promising for us does it?
