I need to do a survey for my AP Stat class. The questions are:

1. Suppose that you decide to see a play for which the admission charge is $20 per ticket. As you prepare to purchase the ticket, you discover that you have lost a $20 bill. Would you still pay $20 for a ticket to see the play?

2. Social science researchers have conducted extensive empirical studies and concluded that the expression "absence makes the heart grow fonder" is generally true. Do you find this surprising or not surprising?

3. Suppose the Unites states is preparing for an outbreak of an unusual Asian disease which is expected to kill 600 people. Two alternative programs to combat the disease have been proposed. assume that the exact scientific estimates of the consequences of the program are as followes:
-if Program A is adopted, 200 people will be saved.
-if Program B is adopted, there is a 1/3 probability that 600 people will be saved and a 2/3 probability that no one will be saved.
Which program? A or B?

1. No (I hate plays anyway)
2. Not surprising (I have found this to be true)
3. Program A (1/3 probability is too risky)

1 Depends on what the show is and how badly I want to see it.
2 Depends on what we are talking about. A spouse that died, and you still are fond of them and miss them more everyday, or a bitter breakup where you want nothing to do with the person
3 Program A. A definate amount of a smaller number is better than a 66% chance of no number.

1. yeah. it was my bad for losing the money. if i really wanted to see the play i'd pay the required fee to go see it.

2. i find it surprising b/c after you don't see someone for quite a while (like a b/f or g/f) you're inclined to find others attractive. but if it's a husband or wife/ family member...obviously you're going to miss them more when they are gone than we u see them 24-7.

3. A...there's a guarantee for 200 rather than a greater chance of no one being saved. 200 beats none, any day!
