I come from Florida in America, and I find that a lot of my fellow youth there do drugs to escape the boredum we're so commenly faced with. It's a new experience, it's somthing to do, when all other things you'd be faced with are video games, and television. Night clubs close at two PM, and everything requires a large driving distance to get to. I find that my friends and I smoke becasue it is social, and a lot easier to deal with bordum when stoned. Myself, being a drug user ask, why should my government try to control what I put into my own body, and do you folks here in the UK find this just?

Let me tell you something.... I don't know how old you are, or why I should even care about what you ask. If you do drugs, you aren't going to listen, anyway ! First, you have NO IDEA how deep into the pharmaceutical industry our government officials ARE (mostly financial investments)! You probably don't even know, being stoned all the time that the pharmaceutical industry is the most powerful as well as the most evil industry in the entire world ! Nothing else even comes close to the amount of money generated ! If you care to check it out, which I doubt you will - you can get the book "Natural Cures They Don't Want You to Know About" by Kevin Trudeau.
Now, as far as what you are doing to your body, take the word of someone who is probably twice your age - I have done probably every type of drug known to man, at least once, and some of them a lot. I smoked weed for over 30 years, did mushrooms, freebased, took acid, pills, meth and other types of speed, and now, at 45 years old I am PAYING THE PRICE for all those years of STUPIDITY !! I hurt in my chest ALL the time, I Can't do a lot of things that I would like to do thanks to the weed and tobacco( run short of air) and just REALLY wish that I could go back in time, knowing what I know and have a chance to NOT do it all over again !! Believe me when I tell you that you WILL pay the price later for what you are doing now ! And putting aside the fact that drugs can kill you, there are things a lot worse than death .... there is very painful life ! Didn't even make a dent, did I ?

No I would have said unjust.
But saying that I wish the Powers that B would use it bit more common sense.

We have a big brother/Nanny/totalitarian state, here in the UK right now.
We have mixed messages regarding Cannabis, it seems 2 depend on how the Police R feeling that day & whether the Judge got out on the right or the wrong side of the bed.
Lacking all consistency.
Yes it elevates boredom, it's not as outrageous as it was once regarded & it's cheaper than binge-drinking!
The government in disarray with scandals, the job-less figures R up not down as B-lair mis-quoted earlier this week, is he going, is he not going, when is he bloody going?
They're losing grip.
Immigration has been mis-handled, there's more immigrants than they thought there were & some 1 in particular should have been deported, B4 they went on 2 shoot an unarmed policewoman in Sheffield.
Any control the Government think they have over us is overbearing in comparison 2 getting around 2 kicking the low-lifes out when they let them in the first place!

The UK is a mess, it's not much fun living here.

Well I will tell you why !!! Many drug users from years ago has used drugs for so long and it has fried their brains. Many cannot survive outside on their own. Many, many are commited to mental institutions and will probably live there for the rest of their lives. Also many are able to care for themselves, but now need disabiltiy help. Our government pays out billions of dollars for people who are on disability. Drugs do terrible damage to brains. Many people have commited horrific crimes, while doing drugs and our prisons, jails are full of people who have used drugs and killed people. It is a proven fact that Drugs play havoc on our American People. In the Bible it tells that every man should work. To keep our hands busy otherwise it becomes the devils tools. If you or your friends are bored, then get busy. You need to find ways to get rid of your boredom. When you get older the damage will start to show. The reason our Government is against drugs, is because our Government cares about it's citizens. Television , video games are so much better then doing drugs. Get busy !! No wonder your bored. You need to be working. Clean the house or something. Go help someone in need. You are becoming a Vegtable. Don't Do Drugs. PLEASE .

Apparently it is so, just look what they did to cigarette smokers.. are now after Walmart, fast food outlets and anything else that certain people can get the ACLU to go after and then get a judge to make it a law.. bypassing congress. Most people are not cognizant of all the freedoms that have been covertly taken away from us all. Guess which political party is behind the UCLU.??? Then, unthinkingly or without knowledge, blame the current administration for these freedoms being taken away. It may be convenient but misses the real party involved in these shenanigans.

I believe that alcohol is far more evil than weed. You don't hear about people killing people on the roads because they are stoned. I am from Central Illinois, 35 years old and have been smoking off and on for 14 years. Undoubtedly, the government makes too much money from fines and jails stay populated because of people possessing, transporting, and manufacturing marijuana. It would be nice if some of the crazy alcoholics would pick up a joint rather than a drink, there would probably be better relationships and less volatile homes everywhere.

In an Anarchistic system no. The governent tries to control drugs because it also has to most often, pay the consequences of the drug user. Such as rehab, jail, welfare whatever...

If' junkies could just handle their drugs it would be ok, but unfortunately it's hard to keep a job when you're shooting up, so we make it illegal... I guess stupid people just think that a job is more important than getting high... idiots and there "values"....

Ok let's say you do some drugs, you get high, you drive around and don't happen to notice that little kid riding the bicycle right away. You suddenly see him, swerve to miss him, lose control of the car hitting someone else and killing them. Who is responsible? YOU ARE.

If the government said "hey go ahead, kill yourself", they're basically not safeguarding everyone else out there against you. The government is responsible for its people and it is up to them to set rules and regulations so that we are as safe as we can be.

And really... If you're THAT bored, get a job. Go volunteer at a hospital or something. It's extremely rewarding and looks REALLY good on a resume.

There are a lot of opinions on this. Mine is:

If what you're doing isn't hurting anyone else (i.e. if you're smoking pot in the privacy of your own home, growing for your own use), by all means, knock yourself out - and the government should say the same. HOWEVER, if what you're doing DOES have the potential to harm someone (i.e. the leftovers from a meth lab can blow up, poison someone, etc.), then you SHOULDN'T be allowed.

I'm American, not from the UK, but I also believe in making marijuana legal (I'm not connected with it in any way, though, including smoking or growing). That's just my opinion.

the goverment are only trying to do best for the people. if people are healthy this is better for the economy because they are able to go to work and earn tax and so on. the goverment are not trying to tell you what to do with your own body but they have to clean up the mess people create by doing drugs such as death and the fact that people who do drugs are also more likey to steal means the goverment have to recruit more police which will cost them more money. they only want you to be healthy and you should also want that for you too boredom is no excuse... if you think your grown enough to do drugs then you should be grown enough to create your own entertainment. i think you should stop being ridicoulous and stop blaming the goverment.

I do not think the use of drugs, such as marijuana, should be illegal. Its none of the governments business what I do in the privacy of my own home. However, I do think that what you do in public while under the influence of drugs or alcohol should be regulated to some degree.
