Not necessarily, as long as it goes with the colors chosen by the bride for the entire party, meets with her approval, and does not detract from her. After all, it is "her" day and not yours.

There is nothing automatically offensive about a black dress - in fact, it could be quite chic on the right person.

Have fun!

I think it depends on the bride. I went to a wedding where the bride wore black last year. I've also seen guests wearing black at other weddings so it can't be that offensive.

Wear what you want.
If you're really concerned ask the bride. Otherwise do what you want..

The only real rule for weddings is not to dress like/upstage the bride. So don't wear anything similar or make yourself stand out too much as it's supposed to be "her day" (or their day)
But even then

No, its classy and chic, I wore a lovely black dress to a friends wedding and it was a posh do too, I had a nice hat and shoes and bag that matched the hat colour so that broke it up, three other women guests had black dresses on too, it looks elegant.

i understand there's a "no white" rule for wedding ceremony dresses, yet i would not evaluate that a white gown. Nor might I evaluate it a black gown. you're on no account competing for interest with the bride in it in simple terms because of the fact it has some white on it. i might say that's in simple terms advantageous. i would not be indignant in any respect if somebody got here to my wedding ceremony in that gown.

You should always ask the bride first. If she's okay with it then theres no problem. If you're at the reception its perfectly acceptable because its at night time and its very elegant. Many people use that color for weddings and different receptions, including myself. Theres nothing wrong with that. If you think you can pull it off then go for it! :]

If you are in the wedding, or one of the servers, you should ask the bride. But if it is an evening wedding or reception, black is perfectly acceptable.

No, it's fine. Black used to be taboo at weddings but now it's chic. Just double check with the bride to be sure she is okay with it, but you'd do that with ANY dress you wore, right?

Not necessarily - Just to be on the safe side ask the bride or groom for advice - That'd be best in my opinion
