6:00 AM to 6:00 PM (12-hour shift, during the day-shorter week)?

OR

10:00 PM to 6:00 AM (8-hour shift, from night through morning-full week)

You can't switch hours...you would have to choose one shift or the other.

I'd take the twelve hour 6:00 am to 6:00 pm shift because I like working during the day so that my evenings are freed up for other activities. Plus, the bonus here is that you have a shorter work week.

I would definitely choose the shorter week. Think of it; "what are you doing Friday?" "Working." It doesn't matter if it's the same number of hours just spread over more days. It feels like more time when you have to go to work on that additional day. Ask my mother-in-law. She works 48 hours a week, 12 hour shifts. She has three days off each week. Easy decision.

I would take the 12 hour shift. You get one free day to handle any personal business plus your breaks are longer. Or at least according to the law they should be. Good luck and congrats on the job.
